KOL NIDRE: EVE OF YOM KIPPUR

Tonight is the holiest night of the year in the Jewish Faith. It is the eve of Yom Kippur which marks the final day of atonement.

I will go to temple tonight with Richard and I will think about what atonement over the last year I am asking for. I have been to temple on many and varied occasions but never for Kol Nidre. Richard tells me the traditional music for Kol Nidre is as important and beautiful as Ave Maria. I am looking forward to it.

These have been nice days, these last 7 or 8. I am getting back in the groove of being here in L.A. catching up on stuff that was ignored during the last 4 months that I’ve been away.

  2. It is time to remove the green. I prefer to see that face without the garish shading.

    • James, what ‘green’ are you referring to? xx Jane

  3. Interesting, having myself at one time married for ten years into a Jewish family, and the Shofar-blowing. Mybe life is all about the call to signal sacrifice. My life has been diverse and and understanding of emerging Jewish wisdom and tradition. Today Jews are observing Yom Kippur, the annual Day of Atonement,we all have our days of atonements. Like An angel that descends from heaven with a key and a chain, we all participate in the judgments of our minds. As Carl Jung, was to make the exploration of this our inner space in the Mythos & Logos we create.

  5. Thanks for educating me on Yom Kippur. I’m very ignorant of the Jewish faith and thanks for giving it some attention here and making me delve deeper. Fascinating.

  6. Just wanted to say a warm Buna Dimineata (Good morning) from Romania. I’m a great admirer of your work and contributions to society. God bless you Ma’am and to your family 🙂

  7. Just watched an excellent movie on Netflix instant play set in 1930’s Budapest (and under Nazi occupation in the war) called “Gloomy Sunday.” It has many themes including that of maintaining human dignity under extreme adversity.

  8. I wish more people in America were as open and accepting of other religions as you are, Miss Fonda. You are a living example of the respect and responsibility of the First Amendment.
