LAST NIGHT AND TODAY

Ted (Turner) came to L.A. with his friend, Sally Ranney. We spent a fun day. Went to lunch at Cecconi’s and sat next to Abe Summer and Jerry Moss. Jerry’s great mare won the Kentucky Derby year before last and Ted, of course, won the America’s Cup so we had some big winners side by side (which did not go unnoticed)!

Today…right now…the crew for Nightline is moving their equipment in to do an interview and b-roll. I will have a tennis lesson where I can show all my lack of skill. But the point will be—even at 73, It’s not too late to learn a new sport. I hadn’t realized what good, cardio exercise it is. Whew! My first lesson was in Cannes, at the Hotel du Cap. They have clay courts and Richard, who plays tennis, persuaded me to give it a try and I liked it which is why I am continuing.

Had a really fun interview with Cynthia McFadden for Nightline. I felt a kinship with her from the get go. They also filmed my tennis lesson, a quick workout and Richard danced with me for awhile. Then I cooked some home grown veggies…this is what b-roll means.

I am excited about the road trip to Big Sur. We leave early tomorrow. Gotta go pack. Big Sur played an important role in my life. I went there when Esalen was still The Big Sur Hot Springs. I saw my first hippies there. This was in 1961 or so. I flirted with staying but decided to go to France and make a film instead. I’ll send pictures cause it is gorgeous there.

  1. Great read as usual, but all I can think about is your bookcase. I would love to get my hands on your library. How about a closeup? I would love to see what’s there.

  2. Hello Jane,
Must be you and that Homemade pizza that got my heart going, in a cardio way.The same healing waters have been flowing for centuries, at The Big Sur Hot Springs. I have made that trip many times, a great drive from LA to Big Sur. I found a photo of you, sometime back, at Big Sur ,from early 60’s http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_dVQkuAOSYTQ/S8m-IJxcUTI/AAAAAAAAA0Y/4ugBQv6EcPE/s1600/les+flins2.jpg correct me if I would be wrong on that photo. And have a great trip Jane.

    Love and care,

  3. Hi Jane,

Yes, I will keep reading those labels. It really is shocking. But even over here in Europe there are food manufacturers who are out to trick us. In Germany they just awarded the Golden Cream Puff (a http://www.Foodwatch.de initiative for misleading advertisements – quite funny name actually) to a children’s snack bar that had more fat and calories than a large slice of cream cake. And the second prize went to Activia. It was said that walking in the park does more for your colon health than Activia. Well, who knows…

Anyway, I’ve come to realise over the years that you really are what you eat. Would never have believed it before.

I’ve been to Big Sur. Really great. Enjoy.
BTW you look different. New hairdo? You look fantastic.

    Take care
    Jason

  4. Jane,

I remember recently you commented about how you are now the same age as Hepburn was when she did “On Golen Pond”. Now I just recalled an old interview with her in the 1980s or early 90s playing tennis. Good luck with your game! I was never very good at tennis but would be very “energized” after a lost match. By any chance will you be a guest speaker on the TCM cruise this December? Call Robert O. and let him know you want to go. 🙂

  5. When is the Nightline gig going to be shown, Jane?

Also, any news about the movie you filmed in New York – any clue when it’s going to be shown?

Tell Richard the Cakkster said hello! Also Ben! And of course, hug the animals for me!!

    Hugs,
    Cak

  6. Looking forward to the nightline piece–any idea when it will air?

  7. It is a pity that now that I am back in Brazil, you are doing so many interviews, TV Shows etc..and I can´t see them.We have Cable TV here, but not all the Channel\programs from US that I used to like. But at least, I have you almost every day on the Blog, always given me inspiration to keep going..I was very active in NYC,as P.R. and Promoter for Clubs and Restaurants.A kind of a “Brazilian celebrity” myself. Some of those Clubs were very famous then.Met many of my Idols: movie star, singers, artists etc.and had the chance to talk to them, have our pictures taken, others I organize or was the Hostess for their privaty parties. Like Roy Rodgers,my childhood Idol, at the Grammy. The After Party was at a Club I was working then.It was a lot of “dream came true”,a dream life, until the day my only and beloved son passed away!I went to live in the botton of a dark hole for years, and now I am gettin out.So it is always a pleasure to read your post and see that you also, in a diferent way, had some dificult times and recovered from it,is back to work, doing extremely fine, and bring a lot of joy and inspiration to your fans all over the world.Love the pictures with you and another of my idol, your ex husband and still friend, Ted Tunner. Thanks, and best regards from Brazil

  8. Jane, you are absolutely beautiful @73, keep it up and we all look forward to seeing your pics of Big Sur

  9. Wow! Did that pizza taste as great as it looks? I’m a bit angry that you posted this picture. It made me eat a whole pizza. LOL 😀 But what the hell… Just kidding. 🙂

  10. Yes indeed Zenyatta has the cutest personality. I always like to do something different on my BD so drove drive to Hollywood Park and visited Zenyatta and her trainer in the stables. while posing for some pics she tried to eat my hat. Little stinker 🙂

You do not have to wait another minute to see who will and who won’t forgive you. God forgave you years ago, but your faith took a long time to see the signs of complete forgiveness. He matters. the “plastic people in Holywood” and the Press don’t even count and thrive on controversy and putting others down to sell their services.

Remember, Princess Diana? I had written to her several times after I met “Charles” at the Baltimore Waterfront. She was to be on the trip with him, but cancelled. I really wanted to meet her–not him.
My code name working undercover on Wall St. was “Striper one”, [the striped bass, fish]. When I saw your tapes and watched you movies I was most impressed and will never forget, THE CHINA SYNDRUM {SPELLING?} AND RAN INTO REALITY WORKING FOR A TV STATION AT THREE MILE ISLAND.

yOU SHOULD NEVER HAVE TO CANCEL ANY TV APPEARANCE AND HELPED THE US BY TELLING THE TRUTH.
GET BACK UP ON THE HORSE AND DONT LOOK BACK.
I miss your films and so do many others.
God Bless you and warmest prayers,
