I just got back from Brazil to spend a few days in New York promoting my new Prime Time Yoga DVD. I’m excited about this DVD. I have been doing yoga since the mid 1990s. As is my wont, I went from never doing yoga to learning Ashtanga, probably the most rigorous kind of yoga. I had an excellent teacher and because of that I developed good form and technique. I knew that yoga would make me flexible but was surprised to find that it could also keep me aerobically fit as well as strong. However, as I got older, my osteo arthritis made it difficult to do the same demanding postures. This is a genetic trait—my father had it as does my brother. Having had a knee and hip replacement in the last 10 years as well as back surgery, I needed to find a yoga routine that was safe and effective.

When I got back in the fitness business several years ago with my new brand, Prime Time, aimed at the baby boomer generation and older, I knew that one day I would create a yoga program for folks like me. Well, here it is.

I wanted yoga moves to wake me up and moves to soothe and calm me down. And I wanted them short enough to not deter me. So this new DVD has two 10 minute morning programs that you can alternate and two 10 minute ones for the end of the day.
I can do them safely, I enjoy doing them and they work every important part of my body.

If you are really present in your body when you do these moves (not thinking about tomorrow or what groceries you need to buy) they will also affect your mind and spirit.

I describe these moves as yoga that’s marinated a bit in Pilates. This USA Today article has some more information regarding PRIME TIME and Yoga. The DVD is available now from online retailers and your local retail stores. I cant wait to hear what you think!

  1. Jane,
I exercise to your new Prime Time DVD workouts every day. I especially love the Firm and Burn with the class setting and the live music. At the end of a hard day, doing this workout with you and the rest of the class gives me such a sense of joy, probably b/c it makes me feel like I’m dancing in a way too, while I’m working out. Now I can’t wait to get the yoga DVD’s so as to add them to my prime-time workout regime.

You are inspiration to me, by the way. Not only do you look beautiful but you are obviously so fit and healthy.

Thank you so much for making these work outs, for your book ‘Prime Time’ and for being a role model of aging well.

  2. You have been working very hard and you keep going for ever. Brilliant! I look forward to your next venture! Here in the UK, I have been watching Brazil with Michael Palin on the telly which was very interesting.

I have joined a feminist action group and am excited about it. My current worry is about my mum who is very very ill with Alzheimer’s and is frail. I do like getting involved and finding out about all these issues.

  3. Hi I am a big Jane fan…. my mom is 69 and she too as you are an inspiration . I’m 45 and feel that the future is bright. I really would love to buy this for my 85 year old mother in law she lives in France. It is so difficult to get anything related to health there. Any hope that this dvd will be translated or dubbed?

  4. I might want to try yoga, but I am trying to figure out what is most important for me to focus on. I want to become more in shape, healthier, and lose around 15 pounds while I am at it. I, like many, am busy. I always seem to find something I need to take care, then not make it to the gym. So, what should I start with? Do I do some yoga, focus strictly on other types of exercise, or is there a good balance? (I am 42, 5 foot 1, 138 ish pounds, on the move a lot, but not consistent on exercising.)

    • susan, perhaps the FIRM & BURN dvd i did last year.

  5. Hi Jane,

Yes, will certainly get the video for the Christmas holiday. Even my mother gets enthusiastic and believe me to get her out of her chair is really a miracle!

By the way, there was an article in the Dutch journal about your house: it was mainly about the fact that it is so eco friendly and looks so great at the same time.

Lately, I saw a lot of your movies(some again): amongst others “Agnes of God” which is tender and mystique at the same time and your acting is really breath taking.
Still try to get my hands on “The Morning After”, but that is a real challenge:-)
Any idea where that one can be purchased?

    Best regards, Nancy

    • no idea, Nancy, where you can get it. maybe download from your equivalent of Netflix. xx
