John Williams and James Taylor and the Hollywood Bowl & Captain Planet Auction Winners

John Williams scored the movie “The Reivers”, based on William Faulkner’s last novel. James Taylor narrated while Williams conducted the L.A. Philharmonic orchestra. My father did the same narration with Williams in the late 70s. Williams said James Taylor reminds him of my dad. I see why. It was very moving.

Here I am having dinner at the Soho House with Dr. William Helvie and Elizabeth DuPree Lynch. They won the dinner at the Atlanta auction benefiting my stepdaughter, Laura Turner Seydel’s Captain Planet Foundation. Captain Planet was a successful children’s animated TV series about saving the planet created by Ted Turner and Barbara Pyle that will soon be made into a movie at Warner Brothers. The dinner was lots of fun.

  1. Hi Jane,

I was on the plane home tonight reading an article in the Daily Mail (UK) about you by a Patricia Bosworth who is a close friend and has written a book about you. Very saucy I must say! The Daily Mail is serializing the book. I don’t know if it’s all true but each to his own…
Sounds a bit like sensationalism if you ask me.
Best wishes from across the pond.
    Jason

  2. Hello Jane,

I found these wonderful home movies that Roddy McDowell made (on you tube). Thought you might love to see them, you are in several of them. They take place in summer 1965 at his home in Malibu.

They really capture that period of time – the stars as well as the beautiful california coastline.

    • Nancy, how great of you to send me these links. I have enjoyed looking at them. Bri gs back many memories. Man, how gorgeous everyone looked! I lived right down the beach from there with my first husband, Roger Vadim. For some reason he was not at any of those parties. Maybe back in France. I was making “The Chase” with Brando, Janice Rule, James Fox all of whom appear in this movies. Thanks again. Xx

  3. I really loved watching them too. Everyone looks so relaxed. And a real treat is for us to see how stars really were “off” camera.
    Jason xx

  4. Thanks Jane, I’m so glad you liked them. Whoever is uploading them to youtube seems to be uploading new ones every few days.
