  1. I can’t wait to read the book! I hope I am a winner!!

  2. I was disappointed to read the contest for a free book was for US folks only, yet you have a global community here. I suppose the reasons are valid, the darn laws of this or that make it messy and are here to protect us but a shame that fun contests such as this get caught up in the net. Unless you forgot we’re from around the world? In that case, I win since I submitted my name anyways πŸ™‚

  3. Oh No! Jane, I interrupted dinner tonight, it’s 8 p.m. here in Germany, to take part and it’s for US residents only. What a shame. And my original comment got lost too. πŸ™

Anyway, I wish you lots of success with the book.
    Take care
    Jason

  4. Wish the very best with your newest book!
    Mike

  5. I hope I win! I was in a rush and quickly did it a few minutes after 2. I hope I did it right. I’m on the road, heading to Washington DC, to participate in a Save Our Schools Rally and March. Of course I think Washington will be busy with this debt ceiling issue.

  6. Geez Jane! I feel slighted on this. Didn’t see this “contest” on your web site. Read your blog daily. Would of have loved to receive one of those autographed copies! What with you being my hero for close to 35 years…
    Janet

  7. Jane,
I wish you success with your new book and that it brings new perspectives concerning a better evaluation, taking your experiences as examples, towards our goals in life.
    All the best
    Trajano

  8. Jane,

I noticed that you don’t stop in Washington, DC for your book tour. Is there any way you can come here as well? It would be such an honor to meet you and have my book signed!

    Thanks,
    Allison D.

    • Allison, D.C. is only on the schedule right now for me to do the Diane Rehm radio show (NPR…one of my favorites) maybe at a future date..But send it to Fonda, Inc., c/o Debra Tucker, PO Box 5840, Atlanta, GA, 31107 and I will sign it. x

    • Wow! That would be wonderful! Will do. Thanks so much and god bless Jane. You’re such an inspiration!

  9. Congratulations to all the winners. I was desperate to get on here to see what was going on, but there was a little message where the page should be, saying that the server was overloaded.

But I know I’m already a winner – I have ‘Prime Time’ on preorder from Amazon. For me, it’s the most exciting book release of the year (together with Professor Richard Dawkins’ ‘The Magic of Reality: How We Know What’s Really True’).

How great life is for having books. πŸ™‚

  10. Jane – I am one of the winners of your new book, and it arrived yesterday!
Thank you so much! I am looking forward to beginning it on a flight to Savannah later this month – thanks again!

  11. I received your book, “Prime Time”, in the mail yesterday! I was so excited to hold it in my hands, see your signature on it, and then begin to dive in to read it. I am going to be honest. Only being 41 years old, I didn’t know how appropriate this book would be for me. Boy, was I wrong! This book will help inspire me on how to live my life NOW and LATER!
After beginning, I decided I would not rush through the book. I am going to read a chapter at a time, and really take the time to reflect on each section. To those thinking of buying this book, I think it would be the perfect book club choice. I already have so much I would love to discuss with others after reading just a short part of the book!
So again, thank you. For a girl who doesn’t normally pick up and read these types of books, I am hooked already!

  12. Dear Ms. Fonda,

I was expecting a copy of Margaret Atwood’s “Payback” to arrive in yesterday’s mail and was floored when I zipped open the envelope to peek inside. My first thought was, wow, Margaret Atwood has changed her hairstyle.

I can’t thank you enough for the copy of your new book. I was beside myself when I realized I was one of the lucky ones. I know all the winners will be so excited to read it. I encourage everyone to buy a copy and share their insights with friends and family. I especially like your approach to modern medical research and am looking forward to reading more from the team at UTD.

I teach guitar and the newest trend in classes is the over-70 student, who is often a complete beginner. It’s fantastic! I can’t say enough about what wonderful students they are–always prepared with great attitudes–and, yes, we get the fingers nimble so that they play classical repertoire effortlessly. That is always their concern. I’m not that much younger, but I feel I am in their jet stream.

Thank you again for writing such a wonderful book. Your family photos are especially lovely.

    Kind regards,

    Susan

  13. Wow! I got my book yesterday! Thank you so much!!! I haven’t had a chance to read it all yet, but I love it!. I happened to enter the contest on my birthday and cannot believe I won! Wow!

  14. There are patriots and nationalists (letter I wrote to the editor 2009)

Many of our erstwhile patriots are actually nationalists. These are entirely different concepts. A patriot is the conscious of the country, whereas are its cheerleaders.
A nationalists thinks it is unpatriotic to criticize the country; they hold symbols of the country, like the flag, as sacrosanct. They criticize other countries like France for no other reason than they oppose U.S. policy. Bellicose nationalists live life precariously at the alter of military valor. This rabid nationalism, disguised as patriotism ,leads us into Iraq with sanctimonious righteousness fostered by lies.

In the war in Vietnam Lt. Calley was convicted of 22 murders of civilians, and still had a 79% approval rating and never served a day in prison (3 years under house arrest). This shows how far unfettered nationalism will go to justify wrong and criminal behavior.

Patriotism is motivated by love of self and brother. I feel that the motivation of our troops in war is the defense of their fellow brothers not justification of our countries
position. If a child (country) of ours when astray, we would seek to show that child (country) the way to redemption. This personal ethos is what makes a patriot.

Many people who were 15 to 25 in 1975 may owe their lives to an unrecognized patriot. She helped bring the Vietnam war to a quicker end by opposing it because it was wrong. It is time that a real American patriot is recognized for what she is-Jane Fonda an American hero, at great personal risk, opposed an unjust war, paid for it by loss of a lucrative career; later apologized for her over exuberance and yet is still demonized. If the public was asked who should be crucified, Fonda or Calley, I am sure Fonda would be chosen. A great American travesty, reminiscent of Jesus chosen over the criminal
    Barabbas.

  15. Wow. Hear Hear James Keating.

  16. Jane, I did not enter the contest, not because I didn’t want to come to meet and see the set of Grace and Frankie etc. I really did. But I thought about how I can afford to fly down to L.A., I own both your books and several movies, I don’t collect autographs, I’ve had the great pleasure of meeting you twice and seeing you onstage once and I’ve had the special privilege of meeting Lily once and seeing her on stage three times. I have been so very blessed that I think I would feel guilty when the other readers of your blog, who I feel a kinship with in our respect for you and love of your show, would lose maybe the only chance they may ever have to have that thrill. I can donate & support and no one needs to know because I don’t need those kudos. So know that it wasn’t that I didn’t value the offer. I came within a hair’s breath of connecting with Paypal but I just kept thinking of Candita and others. (I didn’t see the thing about USA only but even then, I just feel so very grateful for what I have had already.) your already lucky fan, Dona

  17. Wow Donna thank you for thinking of me, yes, you are very lucky to meet Jane, I would be the happiest to meet her, I hope to be able to do it next year again thank you very much.
