CHRISTIAN VADIM IN THE THEATRE AND A NIGHT CHEZ CASTEL

Yesterday I went with Nathalie, her daughter, Victoria, and Nathalie’s mother, Helene, to see the matinee performance of a comedy, “Drink, Smoke, And Drive Fast”, that Christian Vadim is in and it was absolutely wonderful. Although there were some very French insider jokes that I didn’t get, I found the play really original and hysterically funny. Clearly I’m not alone. It’s a big hit. And Christian is just perfect in it. He has a great stage presence, tackles the role of an irrepressible, lovable, playful, silly drunk with enormous talent. I was so moved to see him up there, the little baby whose diapers I used to change, grown into an accomplished actor.

After he finished his 2nd show for the day, he joined us at the still popular club, Chez Castel, —along with his wife, Julia, his brother Vania and his companera, Olivia. (Both Julia and Olivia are major TV hosts on French TV), Daniel Bruhl and a friend of his, joined as did Jason Sellards—the lead singer with the immensely popular Scissor Sisters group. They will be performing in Paris July 4th and all of us are going to the show. Jason has been in town doing interviews to promote their new album which be soon be released. Jason told me that the other day when he was doing a widely watched TV show here, they unexpectedly showed a film clip of him on stage working out with me the World Fitness Day in Atlanta on May 1st. (I did my warm up to one of their songs, “Comfortably Numb,” and invited him to join me).

We had a good time. I had not been to Chez Castel in 50 years. Vadim and I used to practically live there. After dinner (the food was delicious) we all went downstairs and danced.

  5. I have to say Jane, that Christian (Vadim), just form his photo’s seems like the one whom shines out. I have met people like Christian, I like him, the quality life. It comes out in his face and ,this is someone I don’t even know. I see this is a real person, easy to talk with, a real nice person, I would call him natural. Nice to have someone in you family like Christian. Cats! and how has Tulea’s life been with the cats, about?

  6. Hi Jane,

I see that you are having a great time in Paris and I can’t wait to watch the movie when it’s released.

I was wondering if you will ever meet Catherine Deneuve and Brigitte Bardot while you are in France?

When will the shoot be completed and do you have a release date for your new book?

    So many questions…

    JF

  7. Dear jane~Have *you* thought of exhibiting *your* paris photographs? Some of your shots are beyond professional~ extraordinarily beautiful, interesting, original.Perhaps an exhibit whereby funds go to your beloved charities or foundations? I think this wld be a big success and raise needed income. *Your thoughts?* ~A request: if you are so inclined, wld you pls photograph foods of paris? Their presentation is so sensual and delicious. Might be fun for us stateside seeing real french gourmet, food shoppes, how they display in food halls, desserts. I’m hungry already!~It is interesting watching the grown up children you cared for and nurtured. I feel the same pull of nostalgia with my goddaughters-one I was so privileged to labour her mum. Now they are beautiful adults and I am amazed where the time went. Enjoy more theatre. Earscratches to tulea. Xoxm&lb

  12. You look like a young Nancy Reagan in the picture above with Jason.

  13. Your top is beautiful!!

Love reading your blog – it’s very generous of you to share with us!

Can’t wait to read your new book.

  14. I love all the pic’s from Paris. I’m sure I will never visit, so this is the next best thing.
    Beautiful place.

  15. I’m enjoying your photos of Paris and see that you’re doing what most of us do when there, eating and finding the right photo to snap. It’s not as easy as everyone thinks to take a good photo there with lining up the shots and getting the right light – although I cannot think of a more enjoyable place to work at it.

  16. Paris a great city of Europe.Jane seems to love Paris enormously.I have not seen Paris but wish to see one day.The photographs are great and Jane is avid photographer too.

  17. It looks like everyone is having a good time in these pictures! You are so great about giving us wonderful pictures to get a tiny peek into your world! It’s a very kind and generous thing for you to do! Hope you have a good week!:)

  18. Christian has such beautiful blue eyes. I lived in a four story old old mansion in Maison Le Fiette. I used to look over those rooftops before schoool each day.
