Comes a Horseman

OMG! The credits for Comes a Horseman said special thanks to the Dept of
Interior and Coconino Forest in Arizona…. but I just did another
search and found, after all these years…. you filmed it in the Wet
Valley?
The reason I did the search is because the scenery looked like the
Sangre De Cristos… I LIVED IN WESTCLIFF in the early 1970’s.
Now I know why the cinematography was so special to me… that was MY
Wet Valley… my mom still lives in Pueblo!!
I KNEW that scenery was not Arizona!! I should have dug deeper!
anyway…. love you love you love you..
And Richard Farnsworth deserved an Oscar for his performance in that
film as well. — Carol

Jane: YES. WESTCLIFF!!! AND GUESS WHAT? PART OF “CAT BALLOU” WAS FILMED
OUTSIDE OF WESTCLIFF, TOO.

I just finished a Jane Fonda marathon. I was sick and began watching old
films. I’ve probably seen Comes a Horseman 10 times.
To me, it was your best picture. I know that sounds strange because it
never received the recognition of your other films.
I googled the website for the film to find out where it was filmed. I
never would have suspected the mountains of Arizona. The direction was
spectacular.
You once commented on how Bette Davis kept everything internal.. in
films like Jezebel and Now Voyager…
Well, make no mistake – your performance opposite Caan was one of your
best. The scene at the kitchen window, and again when you confessed your
teenage indiscretion … is one for the history books.
I’ve said this over the years to other film lovers… but I’m
continually shocked at how many have never heard of the film.
What a spectacular bit of acting my dear. Simply spectacular. You are
spectacular. I’m a 61 year old grandma… and I was just like you in the
Vietnam days… don’t let em get you down.
You are the best. One in a generation. — Carol

Jane: I LOVE “COMES A HORSEMAN” TOO. LOVED THE EXPERIENCE FILMING IT OUTSIDE
WESTCLIFF. LOVE TO RIDE AND THAT GAVE ME A CHANCE TO SHOW OFF MY SKILLS.
I LEARNED TO ROPE FOR THAT (AND CASTRATE).

  1. I must agree “Comes A Horseman” is one of the most underrated of your films. Saw it at a drive-in with my family and we still talk about how it should have got more attention. It has been nice to see it show up on television lately! Great film!

  2. It was not my intent to ask a question here, but I cannot get the verification code to leave a question in the question section – so here it goes…
In you book Women Coming of Age, for the protein shake it mentions using a protein powder, preferably made from milk and egg protein, with no sugar, artificial coloring or flavor added.
I cannot seem to find a protein powder with any of those suggestions.
    What do you use?
    Thanks in advance.

  3. I am unable to get the verification code to work, so here is my question: I love the Lower Body Solutions workout. I have worn out my VHS copy and would like to order it in DVD form. I cannot find it in that form. I have ordered Jane’s Collection of workouts, and they are good, but I REALLY like the Lower Body Solution. Pls let me know if the DVD is available or can be made available. This workout is very important to my workout program. Thank you.

  4. Dearest Jane–The FLOWERS and I would love to be a part of you World Fitness Day–Please go on youtube and search jane fonda anthony ward to see another aspect of my work with the flowers you and many have yet to see–Blessings,Anthony

  5. I just finished reading “My Life So Far” – I hope that finally you have found the inner peace you have searched for what it seems a great part of your life. I was moved by the forgiveness and acceptance you’ve given to everyone in your life, regardless of the amount of neglect or damage they inflicted by their un-intended actions. I hope you now realize, and I hope that it brings you peace, to know that you have lived a life marked by strenght in character and strong values and that the world is a better place because you have fought for them.

  6. Love your work in COMES A HORSEMAN.

James Caan and Richard Farnsworth were fantastic as well. I respect Jason Robards’ work, but as he was the EVIL, eff him.

Love how you personified Ella without a trace of artifice or bullshit. Kind of like Ella herself.

    Thank you for the work.
