The Third Act: Entering Prime Time

Question: Have you ever thought of doing one more exercise vid for us aging boomers? I found you had a blog and it hit me(hard)that I jumped flailed and kicked all over my livingroom through my 20’s with you. Im 50 now. Im sure there are perhaps tons(no pun intended)of us that would get a huge kick out of reliving that on a kinder gentler level decades later. I hope you feel half as good as you look.

Answer: Yes I am considering doing an exercise program for older folks to accompany the book Random House asked me to write about aging. It is called “The Third Act: Entering Prime Time.” Because of doing the play, the book won’t be finished for another year. I am about half way through. Trying to figure out what the market is for such a “video”. It actually wouldn’t be a video anymore, would it? It would be a DVD and/or something downloadable. They are not easy to do.take time and medical input. Then there’s the distribution part. All questions I still need to consider.

  1. Thanks for the reply. I wouldnt underestimate the popularity of a new Jane Fonda DVD. You sold millions of your videos, and as I recall, one of them was/is the best selling ever. Im betting most of us that bought them are still here and would love the idea. You turned out to be one pretty remarkable woman. Knock em dead in NYC.

    Cheers,

    Mark

  2. I would definitely buy it. Jane’s “Stress Reduction” video is my fave!

  3. I’ve been a follower of Jane’s exercise program for years and I would definitely buy one for ‘older folks’ if one were published.

  4. do it! i used your videos for years (still do, sometimes, even now) and would love a new one…

  5. if they take too much time and medical input, etc. maybe just make videos to upload on your website – like the snippet of you doing pilates. Would love to see more of your workout regimen, and food too for that matter…

  6. I would absolutely buy it. I have all of the VHS tapes and am in the process of converting them to DVD foramt. As a fitness instructor, I do refer to the videos from time to time. Some of the exercises haven’t changed much. When I first started teaching (years ago) a participant actually said that my class was very similar to some of Jane’s videos. WHAT A COMPLIMENT!!!!!!!!

  7. Hello Jane
I have bought your fittness video prime time fit and strong. I am 64 and have had to retire from work to take care of my 2 grandchildren who now live with me owing to my daughters medical problems. My youngest daughter has learning disabilities so sometimes I feel under the cosh. I used to work out all the time up until about 2 years ago when my daughters problems started. I stopped smoking because basically I could no longer afford it what with the extra expense of 2 more people to cater for. I am glad I was forced to do it but my god have I put on weight, I also comfort eat which I am dealing with. The fittness video is just right for me no leaping and jumping about but concentrating on toning and stretching I love it. By the way you still look fantastic
