THE YIN AND YANG OF IT ALL

Posted on June 8, 2014, in My Blog, with 27 Comments

(What this blog is about happened 2 weeks ago. I was going to post it when I left Switzerland but I left my MacBook Pro lap top in my hotel room and only now have returned to Switzerland–Davos this time– and been reunited with it. Since I wrote this I feel as if several lifetimes have passed, the most dramatic and formidable part of which was receiving an American Film Institute Lifetime Achievement Award.

TWO INTERESTING WEEKS AWAY FROM HOME (INCLUDING PARIS)

Posted on October 16, 2013, in My Blog, with 20 Comments

First I went to Atlanta for the annual Empower party that raises money for my Georgia-based non-profit, The Georgia Campaign for Adolescent Power & Potential. We honored Dr Sanjay Gupta with the Health Pioneer. It was a lot of fun and a big success. My favorite ex-husband, Ted Turner, was my date.

Turns out Dr Gupta went to University of Michigan and, with his wife Rebecca, lived near Jeff Daniels in a small lake town 15 minutes from Ann Arbor.…

CANNES 2013

Posted on May 21, 2013, in My Blog, with 26 Comments

There are several things different about the Cannes Festival this year. For one thing, the weather has been horrible. I’m told it’s the worst weather of any festival in memory–rain, big wind, cold. As a result, the Mediterranean, shimmery glow that gives the festival its party vibe was missing.

For another, it’s the first time I’ve traveled to such a scene with my publicist, Pearl Servat, I usually travel alone.…

THE BERLIN FILM FESTIVAL WITH L’OREAL

Posted on February 9, 2013, in My Blog, with 18 Comments

I first came to the Berlin Film Festival around 1966 with the great film producer, Sam Spiegel (“Lawrence of Arabia,” “On The Waterfront,” and many others) bringing “The Chase,” a film about racism which Spiegel produced and in which Marlon Brando, Robert Redford and Robert Duvall, also starred– among others). It was written, by the way, by Lillian Hellman and directed by Arthur Penn.…

PARIS VISIT PART 2 – A VISIT TO A L’OREAL LAB

Posted on November 1, 2012, in My Blog, with 0 Comments

I was particularly interested in learning about and seeing the reconstructed human skin that is made in another L’Oreal factory further away and on which the company tests its products.

Since 1999, the company has been making reconstructed biological skin that can replicate all different types of skin the world over including the skin of the scalp and even the eye cornea.…

CANNES!

Made it home from Cannes hopeful that the Lakers would turn around their series with Oklahoma but their post season ended last night.

I had a great time at Cannes this year. Those of you who followed my Twitter and Facebook accounts were able to see my behind-the-scenes and red carpet photos. I can’t tell you how much fun it is for me to be able to share these unique, bird’s eye view moments, and how moved I am always to read your comments.…

IN PARIS PART 2

In the photo above I am with Pierre Richard from our film, “…Et Si On Vivait Tous Ensemble” (And If We All Lived Together). I spent yesterday in Paris doing interviews on behalf of the film which was made last year. What was so exciting was that the journalists all felt the film was really good. Many had seen it at festivals.…
