I am not sure of the date. Barely know the day of the week. Been so busy. Had an interview in NPR this morning that I forgot!! It’s been rescheduled for Wednesday. Then I had a G-CAPP Executive Committee call this afternoon and forgot that, too. Busy planning and preparing for a party that Richard and I are hosting for fabled music man, Clive Davis, rehearsing my DVDs which tape next week and finishing a new chapter in my book… Something I hadn’t envisioned but my wonderful editor, Kate Medina, sort of re-conceptualized the book, making it more interesting to people—men and women-who aren’t yet in their third acts but need to start thinking and planning for when they arrive there. Don’t get me wrong, it is still about how to age successfully but she has me starting earlier. I didn’t want to write this chapter but had a break through over the weekend and wrote the whole thing and I’m excited about it. Part of me couldn’t quite believe it was Easter and I didn’t even don my traditional full bunny suit (white clown makeup with broom straws glued on for whiskers for the face…everything else covered in [fake] bunny fur.) NO Easter egg hunt…my grandchildren don’t arrive till tomorrow for spring break. Took a long bubble bath last night while I was writing this blog.

I’m in dark glasses cause I lost my reading glasses at Carnegie Hall last week (was it really??) and sat on my lighter sunglasses yesterday so dark was all I had/have to read with. Do you, like me, find that these sorts of things—forgetting, losing, sitting on stuff, locking keys in cars— when you’re doing too much? Urghhhh

Did Larry King just now to promote World Fitness Day May 1st at the Georgia Dome. I was able to announce the new news: LUDACRIS will appear that day and perform live!!! He’s a friend. So will the Pointer Sisters. Anita Pointer is a friend as well. AND, Jason Sellards, lead singer and song writer of Scissor Sisters will come on stage to warm up with me to their song “Comfortably Numb.” He’s becoming a friend. As another friend, Peggy Siegel, just emailed me to say “All that fun and music…The event sounds like Woodstock without the drugs and the rain.” In the words of Sarah Palin, “You betcha!”

It was fun doing Larry again. I’ve known him so long (don’t forget he worked for my ex husband for years—CNN founder Ted Turner and visited us on Ted’s ranches many times.)

I got back to Richard’s in time to watch horn player, Lee Thornburg, laying down a new track on a song “I’ve got The World on a String” that Rod Stewart sings on the album that he and Richard are working on. I walked into the “pub” where Richard does his recording in time to hear Lee ask Richard if he should “ Play the root on the bone” and I knew I was in unfamiliar territory, a new world with its own language. I like being brought into new worlds. Rod was here when I left to do Larry’s show…looking superb, I have to say. And the album is amazing.

So that’s that. Tomorrow is the day for the grandkids. I have so missed them.

    Jane,

    With your busy schedule I’d thought for sure you’d have an assistant to keep all your appointments for you and get you where you need to be? If you don’t…you should think about getting one…wonder if Wanda Sykes is available? ha ha ha Happy Easter to you and your family and enjoy the grandkids.

    I just heard on a Larry King blurb that you had a blog, so I’m here to seek you out! You’re my favorite :) . I sometimes get, “You look like a young Jane Fonda!” Not really, I don’t, but you do :)

    And yes, hormone fluctuations and the busy-ness of busy, this loses my keys, my favorite pen, my reading glasses, etc… I like being over 40 though, and not caring as much ~ Like you, I find my sunglasses and make it work.

    oh Jane I love this blog of yours!…your entries are so unpredictable in a good way, i.e., expected this to be all about your LK appearance only to find you in a ‘bubble bath’, wearing sunglasses & blogging!! Love it!! Thanks for sharing news about the new Rod Stewart album. My grandchildren’s spring break just ended with many happy memories and am wishing you a happy and memorable time with yours! I feel so blessed to have them!

    Hi Jane,
    the issue is ” multi-tasking” in reality you cannot do 2 or more things at the same time and give them their due.
    It is easy to get caught up and as women we are somewhat proud that we can ” multi task” but we are deluding ourselves and depleting ourselves ..that being said.. try your relaxing bath soak and just that… I will be interested in what you think…

    jane, heard that you asked Larry if you looked weird with the facial touch up you recently got.
    I’ll answer–NO–you look fantastic and I am looking for a plastic surgeon who can give me a look as natural as yours.
    When I was 17 in 1971 my sister almost got kicked out of our family home for cutting her hair into your shag and going to an anti war rally you were attending at the (then) Glassboro State College.
    You still go get’em girl! Names of doc PLS!

    Jane — After seeing you on Larry King I have to make a (positive) comment. I’m a guy and I’ve never felt an urge to comment on the cosmetic surgery outcomes of well-known people, but you look incredible. As in incredibly good. I used to write ad copy for a BH cosmetic surgeon and have seen a lot of before/after pics. Whoever “did” you, did one fine job.

    The reason you are forgetting things is because your subconscious knows that certain things are just not that important now…keys, glasses…you’ve bigger fish to fry as in doing things NOW. Your editor has an excellent point and is what I was thinking when I read about your book. Most people need a lead up to the theme you are writing about. It’s like reading about the latest spring fashions and where to buy all the great stuff and it’s already the end of June. One point about Ted. I hear he has a very big heart and he is just my type of man. And the two of you were so good together. I wished you had stayed with him. I must say your face sort of blossomed when you spoke of him. Keep giving us great ideas and writings.

If I ever get to meet you — and I tried when you were in Toronto for your Indigo book launch without luck — I will tell you what your dad said to me.     If you want to make something bigger without glasses you can shine a little LED flashlight on it…increasing the brightness makes it more visible, and it looks bigger too…

    You’re awesome. I love your blog. I have your book, but I’ve been lazy about reading it lately. Must pick it up again. All such useful life information. Much like things I learned on a trip I just took with my mother and some of her friends. I went on a cruise down the Rhine River with mostly seniors, so it was interesting to see the different levels of endurance in people my mother’s age and older. Inspires me to get going on a workout routine again and keep it up. One of my workouts on the trip was climbing narrow steep stairs all the way to the top of a tower in a gothic church in Switzerland. And of course lots of walking.

    Ms. Fonda, I went to see your play last Spring and loved it. I am one of the persons who think that what happened in Hanoi was an act of youth. I have always liked to keep up with what you were doing and therefore read your blog. I read your interview in the New York Times health issue yesterday and enjoyed it; and I do know that you are a Liberal (I was too for many, many years until I started to do a lot of research, soul searching etc.)but when I read that you loved Chris Matthews I was astounded. Once in a while I turn his show on just to get another point of view and I don’t know just what you could love about him. I think MSNBC (the station he is on) is such a hypocritical news station. Anyway, since James Carvill and Mary Matlin can live together with opposite political views, I guess I can still admire you since we all have a right to like whomever we choose — at least until we don’t have that right.

Ten of those years I was married to Ted Turner and after that I spent 5 years writing my memoirs and traveling the world on behalf of women and girls.
