OK, SO I’VE BEEN PREOCCUPIED!

Happy 4th of July, all you compatriots. I haven’t blogged for awhile and that’s because Richard arrived in Paris and well, I’ve been otherwise occupied. It has been so much fun and here are some photos to catch you up a bit. But it’s not all Richard’s fault. We’ve been doing night shooting and that throws everything topsy turvy. But I have had some fine meals in some of Paris’s best and gone dancing a few times (no photos) and there’ve been events related to the Paris Film Festival —events honoring me. Like yesterday I did a Master Class in a small theatre for an audience…did it in French and then took my friends Sharon and Howell Ferguson, and their actress daughter, Megan, Richard and Philipe Caland to the wonderful restaurant in the Bois du Boulogne—le Pre du Catlan.

Tonight many of my French and American friends who are in Paris (including Paula Weinstein and Hannah, her daughter who is my goddaughter), and the Fergusons and Charlotte Rampling and Geraldine and her husband Patrizio, and Vadim’s family and Daniel Bruhl, and on and on—will come to a cocktail reception in my honor given by the Paris Film Festival. After that I introduce “Klute” (the festival has shown 13 of my films…yesterday I introduced “They Shoot Horses, Don’t They?”) and after that introduction we will board a bus I have rented and we’ll all go to the Scissor Sisters concert. I am soooo excited to see them live. The lead, Jason (aka Jake) Sellards is my friend—you’ve seen him in some of my previous blogs– and I have never seen him perform live and I hear they are totally amazing. After that we will all go to dinner!!

I have only 3 more days on the film. The last 2 are the most difficult. 8 scenes of heavy dialogue all with Daniel. It’s going to be fun and intense.
Monday night all the actors are throwing a “pot”–French word for happy hour with drinks and food for cast and crew. Different crews (camera crew, sound crew, set design crew) have been doing it every Friday. I have missed them all. Last Friday they danced till 3am I heard! Now why did I have to go and miss that? Oh yes…well, I was having fun too.

I will remember to take photos tonight. Maybe even Twitter!

  1. Absolutley the perfect summer. Paris, Food, Friends and Dancing! Oh, and don’t forget the wine! Ahhh, the wine.

Can’t wait for more pictures –

    Fondly, your compatriot,

    Michael Dixon (Mekales)

  2. Hi. This probably isn’t appropriate but I wanted to say thank you for your role in Georgia Rule. The movie is both an inspiration to me and an encouragement.

  3. Night shooting? I always thought they simply put a dark filter over the lens. On second thought, I guess it’s because certain locations are only available at night, even in Paris.

  4. Happy 4th, Jane and friends!

I recently joined NetFlix, so while you’re showing KLUTE in Paris I’ll be watching it on my computer at home! It’s been on my to do list for some time, so I’m happy to finally see it.

Good luck finishing the movie and hope you get to enjoy a little R&R when you’re done.

Next time in Atlanta, take a jaunt out to Marietta and visit Douceur de France…a charming French Bistro/Bakery on Atlanta Street…YUM!

  5. All that you wrote about was so interesting! I’m so glad you’ve had some time with Richard…dancing and dining!:) Are you going to be showing any pictures from the Paris Film Festival? The cocktail party given in your honor at the festival sounded like such fun! Wasn’t it nice so many of your friends and cast members from your movie could attend? It sounds like it was a perfect gathering!

Hope you all had a lot of fun at the Scissor Sisters concert! What fun to have a bus load of friends going to a concert together!

I know you must have some regrets that the filming of the movie is almost over!? It seems as though you and the other cast members enjoyed each others’ company a lot!

I hope all went well with your scenes with Daniel…with all that heavy dialogue!:) You had mentioned you were looking forward to working with him even though it would be intense! The two of you should work very well together, I think! I do hope we will be able to see this movie in the states and/or can order it when it is on DVD! You’ve introduced the cast to us, and told us about the story of the movie, which has made me very curious to see it!!

  6. Jane!
Oye, I know I say it all the time, but you look FABULOUS!!! I feel like I haven’t been on your blog often enough, I miss it!

You must have had some of the BEST food in Paris, oh my God! How divine. I just read all the blogs of yours that I have missed after being so busy with the end of school and not even realizing all this time has passed.

I remember last year on one of your blogs when you mentioned me as one of your “regular blogging pals” I feel like I haven’t been living up to Jane-Given-Title…HA! So, I apologize.

I’ve missed you, and everything that you’ve been up to. I feel SO much better now that I’ve read it all and see that you’ve been have a fantastic time!

Congratulations on your daughters new marriage. Hope the grandkids are well. Glad you and Richard are doing great too!!

  8. Hi Jane, I am BLOWN AWAY–of course not by your conducting a Master Class, but by your doing so in FRENCH! Truly, you are inspiring me to renew my college French (I’m 63) and return to university for more graduate studies. Am not sure you appreciate how much your blog has contributed to energizing the rest of us who came of age in 1960s–among others. Your taking leave of your French film family will be bittersweet to be sure. Safe wrap, safe travel home. Thank you for all you do,
    Sheila M.
