GCAPP: Join Jane Fonda and Gabby Sidibe for an evening dedicated to The Power of the Arts April 17th

Act One:
It’s a time in her life that she would just as soon forget. But true to character, Jane Fonda is sharing with Atlanta one of the lowest points of her career as an actress.  View a rare screening of the 1962 documentary “Jane.”  This 53-minute Drew Associates film, by renowned “direct cinema” filmmaker, D. A. Pennebaker and producer Hope Ryden, tells the very intimate story of Fonda’s ill-fated Broadway play, “The Fun Couple.” The show opened on Broadway and closed two days later after being written off as a flop. Pennebaker follows a then 25-year-old Fonda and chronicles, boldly, the ups and downs, the disappointment and disenchantment, Fonda’s whole traumatic experience, from start to finish.

Act Two:
Gabourey “Gabby” Sidibe, best known for her Academy Award nominated performance in the film “Precious,” and currently seen in Showtime’s “The Big C,” joins Jane Fonda onstage for an in-depth discussion of the obstacles faced in pursuit of success, the perseverance required to hone one’s craft and the personal triumphs made possible through involvement in the arts.  Moderated by Susan V. Booth, Alliance Theatre Artistic Director, the inspirational dialogue will include perspectives from the young Alliance Theatre actors as well as insight from surprise celebrity guests.

G-CAPP is proud to partner with the Alliance Theatre to bring you this extraordinary evening to benefit G-CAPP’s statewide focus on empowering our youth.  Committed to enriching the lives of adolescents and helping them achieve a healthy, productive future free of early pregnancy, G-CAPP relies on your support to fund its vital work in Georgia.
