Saw 33 VARIATIONS yesterday afternoon. Two hours plus never went so fast. Absolutely loved it and all the actors did a fantastic job. When you walked on stage, I thought my goodness, she looks the same as when she did when she made the exercise series.

Oh wow! Celeste Holm! She looks good! I do love Dolly too--I loved her appearance on larry King a few months ago. I must tell you this Jane--I thought of it looking at one of your ads from the USO-type tour you did and I can't believe it hadn't clicked until then. When I was working on my masters and teaching at Purdue starting in 2003-one of my more "popular" lessons--I got to design my own curriculum and lesson plans which was great-I taught rhetoric and composition- was I had my students do a compare/contrast of your speech from Hanoi to George Bush's speech from the start of the Iraq war. They wanted to crucify me! Ha!

Delighted to discover that you BLOG! Another reason to admire you.
Dolly is a force of nature, isn't she! I've lived in Nashville for over 30 years and my husband is a gospel singer, so our paths have peripherally crossed a couple of times-- I have a darling picture of her with her arms around my two school uniform-clad daughters that I just love.
I will enjoy being a regular visitor here in your little corner of the blogosphere!

Congratulations Ms. Fonda and cast on your Easter bonnet trifecta!! I just watched your skit on YouTube and it is a hoot! I believe that God gives us signs when we are on the right path. This triple win is a sign that 33 Variations and its cast are right where they should be. It is a play that should be seen, and a cast that will never be duplicated. I saw the play on April 14th, and have encouraged everyone I know to see it before it ends. I cannot thank you enough for such a beautiful theater experience. With no offense to other productions on Broadway right now, 33 Variations rewakened many emotions I have not felt in a theater in a long, long time. Bless you and your wonderful castmates. Please remember that although the production will end on May 24th, everyone will walk away a changed person, a better person carrying beautiful memories.

The show Friday night was incredibly moving, Ms. Fonda. I am so glad I came (from Minnesota) to see it and you. That look you gave the Samantha Mathis character when she sings was magnificent. And what a great role for you -- it reminded me of a Pauline Kael line from a review (maybe for the "Morning After") in which she noted that no actor has better command of his or her voice than you. So true. Thanks so much to you and the company!

Ugh, poor Geoffrey. That sounds painful...and a tad bit disgusting.

Happy to read that the DDA went well and that you were surrounded by all those talented individuals.

Hope the show was great!

Jane,
You are such an entertaining and informative writer! It appears to come as naturally to you, perhaps, as does acting. ( I wish I'd had a chance to know you better back in the day, but, heck, we're probably both a lot more fun now than we were 20 years (!) ago.) I particularly enjoyed your description of your day in theater.
Oh, and of course, doggies grin, frown, pose and, yes, sneeze. Our little beagle mix is big at feigning a limp when she's perplexed or slightly put out.
