STILL GOING……CANNES 2015 Part 1

Posted on May 18, 2015, in My Blog, with 7 Comments

I could barely settle into the excitement of the Grace & Frankie Premiere on May 8th, before I was off to Cannes.
I attend the festival as a Brand Ambassador for Loreal, as I have for the past several years, but this year I also attend as an Actress with a film in competition. The Film by Paul Sorrentino is called “Youth” and it stars Michael Caine.…

GRACE AND FRANKIE NOW STREAMING

Posted on May 12, 2015, in My Blog, with 29 Comments

Ah the Netflix of it all! I got on a plane Friday morning to fly from New York to Los Angeles. Grace & Frankie had streamed that midnight. By the time I landed in L.A. and opened my cell phone, I had received texts and emails from friends and acquaintances saying things like “I’m on episode 6 and can’t stop,” or “I’ve seen the whole season.…

AN ECLECTIC WEEK OF EXCITEMENT PLUS BOB REDFORD

Posted on April 29, 2015, in My Blog, with 8 Comments

It started in New York where I was honored at the Stoney Brook University gala. The annual gala raises scholarship money as well as funds for one of the university’s centers. In the past, for example, actor Alan Alda was honored and funds went to the science center where he is a visiting professor. This year funds went to the Center For Men & Masculinities whose work I support.…

With Marsha Mason at the L.A. Theatre Works 40th anniversary gala

This particular week began with rehearsals for a performance of a pivotal scene from the play, “Top Secret”, by Geoffrey Cowen about the Pentagon Papers. The cast included Stacy Keach and Holly Palance, Jack’s daughter. We were going to perform the scene at a fundraising gala celebrating the 40th anniversary of L.A.

I love acting, don’t get me wrong, and I’m excited about my new Netflix series, “Grace and Frankie,” with Lily Tomlin. But sometimes, when a long time goes by and I haven’t been speaking out (or acting out) in the presence of other women and men, girls and boys, on issues we are collectively fighting for, I feel like I’m emptying out, shrinking up, and the problems of the world feel like they will engulf me.…

LILY & JANE2 DO SUNDANCE

Posted on February 2, 2015, in My Blog, with 20 Comments

We left Los Angeles Sunday January 25th for Park City and the 15th annual Sundance Film Festival. Hard as it is to believe, Lily had never been and I had never gone not to work but just to see films. It happened like this: Our friend, Pat Mitchell, who among her many titles became Chair of the Board of the Sundance Institute this year, invited Lily and me to be interviewed by her for the Women In Film brunch Monday morning.…
